Since 1999, the Business Litigation Session (BLS) of the Suffolk Superior Court has provided a forum for business and commercial disputes. Complex cases benefit from the individualized and collaborative case management and specialized procedural rules that the BLS offers.

The Social Law Library is sponsoring an interactive discussion between a group of BLS Judges and practitioners experienced in litigating business disputes before the BLS.

The discussion among the panel—with ample time for audience participation—will provide a deep dive into a sea of issues surrounding BLS written advocacy, addressing the “nuts and bolts” of, and best practices for, routine and complex pretrial and other motions, including motions in limine, for discovery, to dismiss, for summary judgment and the statement of material facts, and more, while also revealing judicial preferences and pet peeves.

Given that the BLS concentrates on complex business cases, the insights and advice from BLS judges and experienced commercial litigators will provide invaluable insights into the intricacies of written advocacy before this special court.
